Pest-control spraying & cleanup

After applying insect-control sprays, you should wipe up the spray if:

  • Your goal is to simply kill the one or two bugs you just sprayed.
  • You didn’t aim correctly and sprayed in an area you didn’t mean to treat. Or if you sprayed more than you intended to.
  • You accidentally spilled the product.
  • The spray is in an area where someone might slip on it.
  • Your product does not have a residual killing effect. Check the product label to find out.

Kill bugs now & later

A spray with a residual claim not only kills the bugs you see quickly, it also kills bugs that may be hiding. After a residual pest control spray dries, it keeps killing bugs that come in contact with it even when you’re not watching. Be sure to read the label before use.

Pest control around kids & pets

Follow these easy tips to help minimize pesticide exposure for children and pets when using insect sprays:

  • Keep kids and pets out of the treated area until the pest-control spray has dried.
  • Open windows and doors to thoroughly ventilate the treated area before letting pets and children back in, following all label instructions.1
  • Remove pet food dishes and toys for kids and pets from the area before spraying.1
  • If you need to wipe down an area where you’ve sprayed or spilled, use warm soapy water and a paper towel.
  • Be sure to read the product label for more usage information.

How to use spray with bug baits

If you’re using bug baits, never spray the baits with insecticide or creepy critters won’t eat the bait. Also, don’t place bug baits on areas that have been sprayed because bugs traveling over the spray will die before they get to consume the bait.
